BrightStars is Rhode Island’s Tiered Quality Rating and Improvement System (TQRIS). A TQRIS is a method used in almost all states in the U.S. to assess, improve, and communicate the level of quality in early care, education and school-age settings. Through the star rating system, BrightStars helps early learning, education and school-age programs that care for children learn about best practices and apply them to the care children receive. BrightStars recognizes program quality and gives parents information to make choices about their children’s care and education.

I don’t have enough nice things to say. DECC has become family in lots of ways. I’ve had 2 kids go through DECC and my youngest will be there for another year. They have provided a loving, trustworthy, thoughtful, and educational environment. Staff make it a point to learn about each child and create lasting relationships. It truly feels like “the neighborhood daycare/early childhood center” that so many caregivers wish for and for that, I have so much gratitude. As a parent, the last I want is to worry about my child when I drop them off. Never have I been worried about leaving my child there. Regarding the building, it’s clean, safe with a security door, and a fenced play yard away from the busy street. they follow the public school curriculum. The teachers are wonderful. The director is amazing. If your child goes to DECC, you’re one of the lucky ones.

There are not enough great things to say about DECC! The STAFF are amazing! Kellie the director has gone above and beyond to help and guide with my nephew! Kellie the Director has also gone above and beyond to help and guide my nephew.

He has social emotional disabilities and they have always treated him and us with respect kindness and love. Unfortunately this is his last year here as he graduates and will be in kindergarten in the Fall.

Not enough thanks and praise can be given! If your child isn’t signed up yet! Run and do it now!

Darlington Early Childhood Center is an amazing school. My son has been going there since he was 18 months and now will be joining there kindergarten class next year. Their teachers are highly recommended, friendly, caring and good role models. Each one has given my son so much guidance and they take the time to get to know each child individually and work with them, their hands on learning approach has helped my son excel, he is always excited to go back the next day to learn more and see his friends and teachers. The hours are also convenient for a working parent with early drop off times and after school care. They have an outstanding summer program as well, where kids get to learn and play throughout the year, perfect for parents who need a place to send there child if they work in those months
